The beauty of France right on your doorstep

Explore local French towns and the wonderful Charente & Dordogne.

Le Manoir offers seclusion - but not isolation - being only a 3 minute drive to the nearest town where you can collect your daily croissants & baguettes. We are lucky to have several amazing markets offering wonderful French produce not too far away. Only a few minutes drive will take you to local distilleries with free tastings set amongst their vineyards. In the area we have an abundance of interesting restaurants to sample.

You will enjoy a superb location in the Charente,  close to the border of the Dordogne. The Charente is famous for its warm climate and classic seaside resorts, romanesque architecture and open countryside. The Dordogne, meanwhile, is renowned for its magnificent chateaux, prehistoric caves, rich history and superb cuisine.

Angouleme Hotel de Ville

This area of France is renowned for its superb markets selling a range of fresh local produce. There are plentiful opportunities to experience these traditional markets with many being very close to Le Manoir. The local town of Blanzac Porcheresse holds a lively market every Saturday.

The main city of Angouleme - approximately 30 minutes drive from Le Manoir, has a market everyday of the week. Les Halles is the main, covered market & some of France's finest produce can be found here, including a wonderful oyster & lobster bar!

High on any 'to do' list whilst staying at Le Manoir should be a trip to Le Maine Giraud. This famous Cognac house and winery is set in 40 acres of vineyards where some of the regions best cognac, wine and Pineau de Charentes is produced. Located just minutes from Le Manoir a visit to the distillery & museums is highly recommended. If this is the sort of thing you enjoy, why not check out our own bespoke wine & cognac tours.
