Brantôme

A beautiful village known as 'Little Venice' due to its waterside setting is less than an hours drive away. Here you can go canoeing on the river, explore the magnificent abbey or relax in one of the cafés to soak up the ambience.

Angoulême 

The capital of the Charente - and Perigueux - the capital of the Dordogne - are also both within an hours drive from Le Manoir. They are well worth a visit for their historic city centres with cobbled streets and beautiful architecture.

The classic seaside resort at Royan and the marina at La Rochelle with its medieval fortifications are approximately a 1.5 hour drive and make a great day trip. There is a man made river beach closer to home at Aubeterre - a very pretty village 35 minutes away.

Cognac

Home of the world's best known brandies - is just 45 minutes by car. Famous brands such as as Remy Martin, Martell, Hennessy and Courvoisier produce Cognac here and it is possible to tour many of their facilities. The old town situated on the left bank of the river Charente is well worth a visit.
